Not only is Nina able to use the powers of the main bosses like a traditional mega manStyle game, but can now combine two skills into a whole new power. This is definitely not the case with 3 0XXwith the new abilities each character possesses. King pointed out how, in 20XXthat by the end of the game both characters were playing too similar and felt homogenized. She focuses primarily on ranged combat, while Ace, our stand-in for Zero, is much more about melee combat. Nina is a more traditional character for the genre, clearly based on Mega Man – or X – itself. The biggest change that players will notice affects the two main characters of the game, Nina and Ace. Brandon Ellis returns from 20XX compose the music and the new game will sound just as good as before. In fact, each boss will have their own theme song outside of the stage music. Each level offers its own varied platforming challenges, enemies, and music. There are now eight phases in the main campaign, each with its own unique boss. However, 30XX has given the team much more freedom to expand on the original concept. This was mainly due to time and budget constraints. The previous game, 20XX, featured four unique stages, each with their own pair of bosses.

The change keeps it much more in line with the classic games the series is inspired by: MegaMan X. However, the team agreed that the decision was a good one. King mentioned how the team wanted to see how many games changed their art style so drastically in a sequel. The game features high-quality pixel graphics that differ from its more modern-looking predecessor 20XX. When asked what’s new 30XX, the first thing King pointed out was the slick new 2D sprite-based art style. And all without having to go to Tokyo! Overall, this is a recommended hack for those who want to give Roll some spotlight. Both outfits look as good as the NES sprite limitations will allow. The two versions for each region are Roll in her Megaman 1-7 outfit, and the other garbs her in her Megaman 8 outfit. Like his other Roll-Chan hacks, Zynk is offering four versions his hack - two for Megaman 4 (U) and two for Rockman 4 (J). Preexisting issues with Megaman 4 still remain, such as losing your charge shot when hit, the uneven difficulty of some levels and so on. With all this said, keep in mind this is a mere graphical hack that doesn’t alter the levels or other gameplay elements of Megaman 4 at all. These sprites even differ depending if you are playing the Classic or Megaman 8 Roll version of this hack! Consderable work was put into this hack and it really shows.

Unlike the older Roll-Chan hacks by Yuifa, this one is a thorough and complete hack of Megaman 4, replacing everything Megaman specific with Roll’s likeness, includingĪll her sprite frames and 1-ups, as well as brand new, professional looking animated sprites for the game’s intro sequence and the 180 degree spin during the Get Weapon sequence. This is a complete character hack of MM4 that allows Rock’s sister Roll to enjoy the spotlight. Zynk Oxhyde again brings love to the Megaman classic series with his Roll-Chan hack of the classic Megaman 4.
